Borrowed Words

This is totally off topic.
Written in honor of rediscovery.

BORROWED WORDS

Borrowed words, we cannot stand borrowed words.
They are painful like loans deducted from pay or
Charges hidden that cloud into stormy days,
Depleting funds of self-respect, draining margins of the unique;
Swelling interests, costings, losses;
Ballooning deficits of emotional feat.

Borrowed words would have to be paid
Never in cash (though good), but in kind of mind
And the terms are heavy, the annuities high
For every phrase, for every line, a pound of flesh
From your children and your children's pride.
The God of Origin is swift and just for
Borrowed words, He cannot stand borrowed words.
